On oranges and knitting

Today I was working on my Grettir, when suddenly I felt thirsty. Here it is a photo of my WIP…

But my mind was obviously thinking about something else, totally different.

The flesh of red Sicily oranges is, as you can easily guess, red. But here we are talking not just about a simple red, but about a luscious and mouth watering one, more appropriately about a blend of warm orange, vermillion, ruby and of course blood red and – when the juice of a cut orange meets the white skein – hot pink too.

That’s why I was thirsty. It’s hard not to think about fresh squeezed orange juice when you’re knitting with this color. Its name is Second Star on the Right, but if it was me, I’d called it Sicily!
